I was alerted to the possibility of a new landbot spotted recently by ‘Orlando Gloucester’ and ‘Sergio Sobocinski’, Aparently a new bot ‘Auto Oh’ (Unknown Operator) purchases land at below market value and then immediately marks the price up and resets the parcel to for sale. Being curious I decided to sacrifice a 512 square meter parcel for L$3500 (6.83L$/sq.m.) when the current bottom was 7.3L$/sq.m.. I knew the current buy rate for most other landbots would be lower than that, so besides the risk of another land dealer showing up and purchasing the parcel I would be able to test the information that had been given to me. Setting the parcel directly for sale to ‘Auto Oh’ resulted in no action after a few minutes which showed me that he uses axillary searchers, but he himself did not search. I then remarked the parcel for sale for anyone at L$3500, Shortly thereafter ‘Sergio Sobicinski’ showed up, I asked him not to purchase as I was testing something, he complied and a few seconds later ‘Auto Oh’ showed up, purchased the parcel, remarked the parcel for sale at L$3728 and disappeared. Instant messages have gone unanswered and the parcel still remains for sale as I write this post.
The parcel information remained the same other than ‘:)’ being inserted at the beginning of the parcel Name field, and of course the parcel being repriced and set immediately back for sale. The sacrificial parcel can be visited at secondlife://Saint Clair/208/183/59.
I will add this bot to the directory and if you have any experiences good or bad with this bot please post a comment.
*Edit: removed operators name as could not get confirmation, and previously named person has me reasonably convinced he’s not the operator, so to prevent rotten tomatoes from being thrown I’ve removed his name.
I would also mention that in the grand scheme of things, this particular landbot will probably not do much damage since:
a) its slow.
b) its apparent range to buy in is such that not many mistakes are priced in.
This of course does not help any if the bot gains speed and increases its range.
Well this behaviour remembers me to Landbot Hax.
He did the same things and was buggy as Hell.
Landbot Hax popped up. Purchased the parcel set it for sale and set it for sale again.
Well hopefully he’ll mention fast that he’s out of our range. But he could still be a competition for Voomland
The sector where Voomland is moving is not so bad either, he’s slightly under market and grabs everything what the faster bots aren’t grabbing, so he has a range between for him. The more stuff sold at this range the more he can buy and sell.
So it’s not that bad
Although mostly this range is used to dump the crap

JayJay
Hopefully `Auto Oh` is not a conscienceless asshole. …

Marc,
when you say a bunch I assume that means more than just a couple, so those are obviously not mistakes, in fact I saw last night you dumped a 16m2 parcel on one of my bots. So that being the case if you’re selling parcels that are not mistakes, why do you care who picks them up bots or otherwise? Anti Landbot people come in two flavors: 1) those who have been ripped off by Celene/Landbaron Merlin, and 2) those that are jealous they do not have the technology. I’m going to put you in category 2, but with you considering your past you might warrant a third category “those that are trying to gain virtual fame by going after/writing about landbots.
Either way to answer your question “how to beat these guys” Its simple – if you don’t want your garbage land (16m2 parcels definitely constitute garbage) purchased by a landbot, price it higher and wait for it to sell, or better yet donate it to the Arbor Project.
And lastly, whenever The Super Babenco brothers pick up a 16m2 parcel we donate them to arbor to prevent them from becoming a further blight to the landscape. I would recommend anyone who has picked up one of these do the same.
Marc, Your combating bots by becoming a spam dealer??? You just lost any shed of credibility you may have had left. =(
Marc – you’re way off and you’re creating more problems than you are trying to solve. Not good.
